Je viens d'apprendre que d'après un gros bonnet de chez intel, de fortes sommes d'argent aurait été versé à Rockstar pour conservé un maximum l’exclusivité console du jeu...

So I’m a bad PC gamer, I bought GTA 5 on an inferior platform. But all I’ve been able to think as I play through this mammoth slice of open-world gaming is just how amazing it’s going to look when we get it on the PC. The folk at Intel seem pretty positive about GTA 5’s chances coming our way. At the Intel Developer Forum, I sat down with Chris R. Silva, the Director of Marketing for Intel’s Premium Notebooks and inevitably our chat ended up on the subject of how damaging it could be for this former PC IP not to hit our gaming rigs.

“I think it hurt Halo overall,” he said in reference to Microsoft’s failed attempts to at first keep it console-exclusive and then poorly porting to the PC. “At least with Grand Theft Auto I don’t think it’ll be console exclusive very long. But that’s what happens when you have a brand new launch with two companies that have lots of money trying to make sure they have content.”

Silva has his opinions as to why we haven’t heard hide nor hair about the PC version of this huge franchise. “Somebody paid a lot of money to make sure that title was exclusive,” he suggested.

But the PC gaming market is pretty big too and Rockstar would be crazy not to want to cash in on the money being spent on our platform.

“The PC gaming ecosystem just continues to grow,” said Silva. “If you look at the amount of revenue that is generated by PC gaming it’s in the tens of billions of dollars each year. It’s incredibly diverse and rich and that’s it’s greatest strength.”

So yeah, what about all those reports of the declining numbers of PCs being shipped year-on-year? Businesses may be buying fewer boxes, but PC gamers are still spending on individual components and software. The PC’s in great shape, and will surely support the best version of GTA 5 of any platform, whether current or next-gen. It’s just a question of patience.

Une fois encore, Rockstar aura laissé le soin à Sony de jouer les messagers lors de sa conférence de l'E3. Après avoir confié l'an dernier au constructeur l'annonce de la date de sortie de GTA 5, le studio a cette année remis ça, avec encore une fois une nouvelle très attendue : la confirmation de la sortie du jeu sur PS4, Xbox One et PC.

Fortement espérée, cette arrivée de GTA 5 sur les consoles next-gen devrait se faire en même temps que sur PC, à l'automne prochain. Ce portage arrivera avec quelques modifications graphiques et de gameplay et permettra de transférer la progression effectuée en online, et peut-être aussi selon certaines sources n'ayant pas été confirmées en offline, de la PS3 sur la PS4. Evidemment non évoqué par Sony, un système identique pourrait également exister entre la Xbox et la Xbox One.
